Description

Lantus Solostar Pen is a long-acting insulin injection pen used for the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It provides a steady supply of insulin for up to 26 hours, helping to manage blood sugar levels. Each pen contains 3 mL of insulin and delivers a dosage range of 1-80 units in 0.25 unit increments. The pen features an integrated needle and is pre-filled with Lantus insulin, eliminating the need for cartridge changes.

Storage Guide
  1. Unopened and vialed Lantus insulin should be refrigerated at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F).
  2. Do not freeze Lantus insulin or expose it to direct sunlight.
  3. The Lantus Solostar Pen should be stored in a cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  4. Do not leave insulin sitting at room temperature for extended periods of time.
  5. Do not shake the pen, as this could mix bubbles in the insulin, making the insulin cloudy and necessitating disposal and replacement of the pen.
  6. A visual inspection of the insulin should be performed before use, as cloudiness might indicate the need for a newer pen or vial.
  7. Properly dispose of used Lantus Solostar Pens and needles according to your local health department guidelines. Do not reuse needles or pens
  1. Before using your Lantus Solostar Pen for the first time, inspect it visually for any defects ordamage. Do not use the pen if it appears damaged.
  2. Inspect the site for injection prior to each injection. Choose a site on the upper arms, thighs, or abdomen and avoid areas with scars, bruises, or tender areas.
  3. Wash your hands and the injection site thoroughly with soap and water and dry before use.
  4. Dial the dosage based on your healthcare provider's instructions. Turn the dial to the right to increase the dose and to the left to decrease it.
  5. Push the dial all the way in unless it clicks, indicating a full dose. Repeat this process for additional doses if needed.
  6. To inject, press the open button and hold it while inserting the pen at a 90°angle into your skin and depress the plunger all the way. Be sure you do not see any blood before injecting.
  7. After injection, keep the injection site protected from excessive pressure or additional trauma for 10 days to reduce the risk of injection site reactions.
