Flovent HFA**

Flovent HFA (Fluticasone propionate aerosol) is a prescription inhaled corticosteroid used for the long-term management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It works by reducing inflammation in the airways, which helps prevent symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest tightness, and wheezing. This medication is available in various strengths: 44, 110, 220, and 440 mcg per actuation.

Storage Guide

Storing Flovent HFA**

  1. Store Flovent HFA at room temperature, between 15°C and 25°C (59°F and 77°F).
  2. Do not store this medication in the bathroom or near a sink.
  3. Keep away from heat and open flames.
  4. Avoid spraying Flovent HFA directly into the eyes.
  5. Do not use this medication after the expiry date printed on the label.
  6. Dispose of an empty or outdated inhaler properly following local regulations.
  7. Keep out of reach of children.

How to Use Flovent HFA**

  1. Read the patient information leaflet provided with the medication before using it for the first time and each time you get a refill.
  2. Shake the inhaler well for about 5 seconds before using.
  3. Blow your nose if necessary and close your mouth.
  4. While standing or sitting upright, place the mouthpiece of the inhaler in your mouth between your teeth and press your tongue against the back of the inhaler. Do not bite or chew the inhaler.
  5. Inhale deeply and hold your breath for about 10 seconds. Then, breathe out slowly.
  6. Repeat the steps if prescribed more than one inhalation per dose. Rinse your mouth with water after using the inhaler if prescribed by your healthcare provider.
  7. Prime the inhaler before using it for the first time and after cleaning. To prime, spray the inhaler into the air away from your face, shaking the inhaler well after each spray. Prime the inhaler again if it has not been used for more than 5 days or if the metered dose indicator (MDI) shows less than 200sprays.
